I came to law school hoping it would help me find a career doing interesting work that I can be proud to call my own. By this I mean work that at least does not rely upon structures of economic or social inequality or in any way undermine the common good; ideally, it would combat these forms of inequality and promote the common good. I'm also hoping for financial stability, and hoping above all that I don't regret taking out the loans to come here when it's all over.

I came to law school because I identify with people who struggle in the contemporary economic order, and I want to know how to make this country a better place for them. Before coming here, I began a doctoral program in political science and read a great deal of theory on the subject. This was very useful to me personally, but it soon became painfully obvious that greater theoretical sophistication isn't what is needed. What is needed are people with deep, practical knowledge of our dominant power structures and how to navigate them, combined with a will to do justice.
