My name is Nereese Watson and I'm from Kingston, Jamaica. Originally, I hoped to study education policy because of the inequities I observed in my own educational journey. Most schools in Jamaica are private, Christian schools and placement is decided by standardized testing after 5th grade. I found law to be a more interdisciplinary approach to understanding the kind inequity that education can create in systems such as housing and employment. I look forward to learning a more creative approach to law in this class and the types of solutions possible within the legal system.
