I expected law school to be just that - schooling centered around the subject of law. But while my simple expectations have been surpassed when classes really engage the material and get me thinking about law in ways that I never contemplated, law school has also failed to meet my expectations when it feels like our work in the classroom is simply a means to an end (i.e. you learn and study to do well on tests, which enables you to get a good job, which enables you to make money, and so on). When law school is truly educative, it's everything I expected and more, but that experience has not always held true...at least not so far.
